Our 3rd Trip to Australia day 5

On the morning of day 5 we set of for Echuca on the way we stop at a town called Holbrook why you ask because there was a real Submarine in the park the town was named after Norman Douglas Holbrook a decorated wartime submarine Captain and a winner of the Victoria cross

Further up the road we came across the Ettamogah Pub so had to stop for a beer Ettamogah pub was a cartoon pub which featured in the now defunct Australasian Post magazine

Jim outside the Pub

On arriving in Echuca we booked in to our Motel then went down to the tourist village for a cruise on the Paddle steamer EmmyLou which was so cool then for a ride around town in a horse drawn carriage

Echuca is on the Murry River and by 1870 was the largest inland port in Australia but with the arrival of the railway and improvement of the roads by 1890 the port was in decline and most of the paddle steamers where gone the biggest draw card to Echuca today is tourism

We had a wonderful day and a nice dinner that night more adventures tomorrow

Have a great day :)
