Our 5th trip to Australia day 5

We left Dubbo early the next morning and headed for Young on the way we stopped at Parkes to check out the CSIRO Radio Telescope Observatory which was one of several radio antennae used to receive live television images of the Apollo 11 moon landing 


Then we went to the Parkes Car Museum

there was all sorts the next town on the way is Forbes as I do Ancestry and like a bit of history I had to go to the cemetery to see the grave of Kate Foster nee Kelly the sister of Ned Kelly the infamous bush ranger well know in Victoria Australia 


While passing through one of the small towns we saw a large Toohey beer can one to add to my big things 


Then on to Young where we found big Cherries another thing to add to my big things 


Not much to do in Young so just sat around talking then went out to dinner

Our 5th trip to Australia day 4 part 2

 When we arrived in Dubbo we booked into our cabin then headed to Taronga Western Plains Zoo which was amazing its a very big zoo you can walk or hire a golf cart which we did

After the zoo we went into town had a wander around, then went to the old Dubbo Gaol

Our 5 th trip to Australia day 4

 On the morning of day 4 we headed to Mount Panorama the home of the V8 super car racing which happens in Bathurst every October for 4 days Jim has always wanted to go but it just has never happened so he wanted to have a drive around the race track

Then we went to the V8 Museum

Then to add to my big things we found this Giant Gold Miner Panning for Gold 

Then we got on the road again and headed to Dubbo

Our 5 th trip to Australia day 3

 On the morning of the 3rd day we headed for Bathurst on the way we stopped at Pulpit Rock lookout at a place called Govetts Leap

Next stop was the town of Lithgow where I could add to my big things they have a Giant Miners lamp



Next stop Jenolan Caves 



This is the road into the Caves car park and village this place was amazing there are  lots of cave tours to take we chose the Diamond Cave

Our 5th trip to Australia day 2

 We were all  looking forward to this days adventures across the road from our cabin  was Scenic World 

The first thing we chose to go on was the Scenic Skyway a glass bottomed  cable car that glides between cliff tops above the Jamison Valley , at 270 metres its the highest cable car in Australia

Next we went on the Scenic Railway at 52 degree incline its the steepest passenger train in the world

Then we did the Scenic walkway you get to walk amongst ancient rainforest

Then we did the Scenic Cableway carrying 84 people scenic cableway is Australia's biggest cable car descends 545 metres into the Jamison Valley

The three sisters the story goes the chief of one of the waring Aboriginal tribes turned his three daughters into stone to protect them from the men of the other tribes , but the chief was killed before he could turn them back

Our 5th trip to Australia Day 1

 In 2013 we took our 5th trip to Australia this time we did a road trip in New South Wales with our friends L &  S

We flew into Sydney and our friends who live in Brisbane who had flown to Sydney the day before and had picked up L brothers car for us all to use on our trip met us at the airport and off we went to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains we were booked to stay here for 2 nights

Wedding Anniversary

 Today is our 45th Wedding Anniversary we had a quiet day at home my friend D who was our bridesmaid came and had lunch with us the Jim's sister came later for a cup of tea 


Us in 1975 on our wedding day we were both 19 years old 


With our  parents left to right my Dad , Jim's Mum ,us ,my Mum ,Jim's Dad sadly they are all gone now

4th trip to Australia day 4 & 5

 On the morning of day 4 L & S said as we lost our way up Mount Coot-tha they would take us ,so we finally got right to the top 


The view from the top was not that clear as there was lots of smoke around 

Then we went and had a wander around the Brisbane  Botanic Gardens 


These are Bats made of metal hanging in the tree playing musical instruments

After the gardens L & S took us to a nice beach for some lunch 


Then of home for a few drinks then dinner 

The next morning we just relaxed around L & S helped  S find his pool cover that had blown over the fence in a storm long before they brought the house the neighbour came over to tell them if they want it that where it is
