Our trip to the South Island day 5
On the morning of day 5 we set off for Queenstown it was a very wet morning so took it easy
First stop was a Salmon farm
I love a meal of Salmon
The scenery on the way was amazing
This view was used in the movie Lord of the Rings
This is Thunder Creek falls
Fantail Falls
Lake Hawea
Next stop Wanaka we stopped at Puzzle World a place where everything is topsy turvy
This photo is taken by thousands of people every year
The iconic photo of the tree in lake Wanaka
Then on to the Cardrona range a favourite place in winter for skiers
At the top of the range is the Cardrona Hotel
And the bra fence where for some reason hundreds of travelers have left their bra's I chose not to
Next stop Arrowtown which in its day was a goldmining town
Me in an old stamp
We headed on to Queenstown booked in to Cabin then headed to the Gondola
Up we go
View from the top
What we saw on the way down some wild goats
We then went into town for some dinner and I was very amused by the Zebra crossing
More adventurers tomorrow
Have a great day :)

Our South Island trip 2018 day 4
Our next destination Fox Glacier we headed off early in the morning as there was lots to see on the way
First stop Punakaiki Tavern to take a photo of this Horse and Dray
Then on to Punakaiki Pancake Rocks
There is a walkway for you to follow around the coast looking at the rocks that look like stacks of pan cakes hence the name
The views were just amazing
Next stop Greymouth for some lunch and a leg stretch
when wandering around we found this mural and they had a great town clock
Then on to Hokitika
When found the word Hokitika spelt out in driftwood which had been damaged in a storm that hit the west coast and the locals had put it back together as best as they could
we also found these crazy chairs
Driving on we came to the town of Ross which used to be a goldmining town
A sluicing wheel
I found myself in the stocks again
We arrived in Fox Glacier booked into our cabin then went for a drive to look at the Glacier
and we found it had to be from a distance as the road up to the Glacier walk was washed out in the storm but we still were amazed by it
More adventures tomorrow
Have a great day

There was a little wharf there for boats to load up from so we went for a walk out on it and saw some big Eels
Next stop Buller Gorge swing Bridge which Jim was keen to go out on the rest of us not so keen we just watched him
Jim waving at us
Once arriving in Westport we headed out to Cape Foulwind to checkout the Lighthouse
An awesome view from the car park
The Lighthouse
Heading back to the car we came across a Weka
Then after tea we went for a walk down to the beach to watch the sunset and found a drift wood teepee
